Setting Your Desktop Background in Windows Vista
One of the ways you can personalize your computer is to choose an image you like for the background of your Desktop. The image can be a single color, a pattern, or your favorite picture or photograph.
Set the Background
Click the Start button, choose Control Panel from the Start menu, and, in the Appearance And Personalization section, click Change Desktop Background to display the Desktop Background window.
Select the wallpaper picture or color you want, and specify its location: - Windows Wallpapers to use one of the background patterns or pictures that came with Windows Vista
- Pictures, Sample Pictures, or Public Pictures to use a picture from one of those locations
- Solid Colors to use a single color
Click Browse if you want to locate and use a picture from another location.
Select the item you want as your Desktop background.
Specify whether you want the picture stretched to fit the screen, shown at its standard size and repeated to fill the screen (tiled), or shown at its normal size and centered within a colored background that fills the rest of the screen.
If you chose to center the picture, click this option to set the background color.
Click OK.
